The Snapper was, without exaggeration, the freshest I have ever had. It was cooked to perfection—moist and flaky on the inside with a beautiful, crisp golden batter. The chips were exactly how they should be, and everything tasted clean and delicious. ​What really sets this place apart is the environment. The shop is impeccably clean and tidy, which is always reassuring. The service was fantastic, and the owners were incredibly pleasant and welcoming, adding a lovely personal touch to the experience. ​It’s clear the team here takes great pride in what they do. “ Snapper and Chips was everything I hoped for as someone who barely eats Fish or Meat in general. It was greasy, crunchy and delicious. The Fish tasted really fresh, the Batter was excellent and crunchy and so were the Chips. Even as a Takeaway Option. Veggie Burger was also surprisingly good. Also the Portions were huge! ++ would visit again ”

At NZD18 for half a dozen, we were expecting some small ones BUT we were surprised with the big shells and thick meat!!! It was a big mouthful and the creamy taste brought us to estasy. They were such lovely oysters and thank you for making our last meal in NZ such a good one! ”

“ Situated in a "trio" of Paihia named shops (it is beside Paihia Bookstore and Paihia Bakery), Paihia Fish & Chips took me by surprise. I ABSOLUTELY loved the fish; the batter was thin, crispy and delicious. The fish was fried perfectly. I didn"t even need to buy any sauce cos the taste of the fish was excellent. I would definitely come back again even though the fries were too salty. The next time I would try a different fish and also request for unsalted fries. ”

“ So far my fish and chips experience in NZ is akind to my baguette experience in France, there's really no bad ones for me. Since both North and South Islands are surrounded by the ocean, fresh fishes are plentiful. I particularly like the thin batter style compared to some very heavily floured ones in the US. Fresh fish (today is snapper) about NZ $17 which is less than US$10 one giant piece plus plenty of fries. Properly seasoned with salt and add your own vinegar on the table if you like. Ketchup and tartar sauce would be a small charge. Wi-Fi is free. Service super efficient with a beeper device given to alert when order was ready. ”
